David, a long time member of the United Family, put on a quick demonstration of some everyday tasks he performs with his prosthesis. This style prosthesis utilizes a myolectrically controlled hook called a Greifer, which gives him powerful gripping capability for manual labor tasks while still allowing him the ability to perform fine motor tasks when needed. David’s prosthetist is Greig Martino, C.P. who heads United’s upper extremity program. Greig has over 40 years experience fitting both upper and lower extremity prostheses and is expert at fitting microprocessor controlled devices, such as Ottobock Genium & C-Leg Knees as well as TouchBionics Quantum Hands.
We’ll try and get another picture of Greig up here for all you fans!!
