This week a young member of the United Family received donated componentry from Wiggle Your Toes (WYT). The componentry consisted of an Ottobock knee and foot designed for sport and fitness activities. Jack had a right above knee amputation as an infant- and hasn’t looked back since. He has managed to stay active, including participating in formal youth sports such as football, but is now positioned to excel even further with the right equipment! As many of you know- components like this are not often covered by insurance companies because they are viewed as “not medically necessary”. Fortunately, WYT founder & fellow amputee, Aaron Holm, sees the unmistakable value that components like this can have in an individual’s life and didn’t hesitate in stepping in to make this a reality for Jack.
For those of you not familiar with WYT, you should check them out. Their mission goes beyond charitable giving- they demonstrate a true commitment to the amputee community by acting as a full-service resource for amputees navigating the inherent challenges associated with limb loss.
