With the Boston Marathon held this past Monday, we thought it was a great opportunity to highlight a few avid runners in the United Family! For starters, here is a new video of Greg, one of the most charismatic members of the United family, getting his new running prosthesis. Greg has been a United patient for over 15 years. In the video, he is seen taking the new leg for a test jog around our new Quincy location. The prosthesis consists of a custom socket fabricated by United with an Ossur Flex Run foot, designed specifically for jogging, distance running, or even triathlons. Greg will primarily use this prosthesis to jog as a part of his overall fitness routine.
Let’s not forget, we’ve been at this a long time. Joe Lemar, who you’ve seen in some of our previous videos has been running on a United leg longer than some of our competitors have been in business! His running career took him to the Paralympics in Barcelona in 1992, and he still coaches high school track locally.
And of course, there is Femina- who at this point we hope is a household name. As a relatively new runner, she was able to compete in the 2016 Paralympics in 2016 in the 100 & 200-meter dash. She shared some “new” photos with us recently and let us know her training, though intense, is going well. We can’t wait to see her in Tokyo in 2020!
Of course, there’s more, but we’ll save the rest of you for future posts. In the meantime, happy trails.
