We were delighted to see Katie back in Boston this week, and see the progress she has made after receiving her prosthetic arms back in October. After her visit with us she was honored at the Irish Heroes of New England Awards in recognition of her determination in the face of serious physical challenges. Our Medical Director, Brandon Green, DO, attended the event and shred this photo of Katie along with the other recipients (and their families) of the award. In the photo Katie is flanked by Paul Kennedy (father of late BFD Firefighter Michael Kennedy) on her right, and Mark Porter (cancer research fundraiser and survivor, from Quincy) on her left.
Others honored were BFD Lt. Edward Walsh (represented by his wife), Weymouth Police Officer James Flanagan, and John Dunleavy (leader on the MA Down Syndrome Congress, from Winchester).
Congratulations Katie, the award is well deserved!
