Julianne Gupta, CPO, and resident Ashley Rinck can be seen here doing their best Price is Right showcase model impersonations. The prosthesis they are showcasing is unique because it is referred to as a “bent knee” design. It allows the wearer to have the ability to bear weight on the front of their knee, as if they were kneeling, instead of below the knee portion of the residual limb. The below knee portion of the residual limb, or shin section, can be seen in the photo pointing out the back. This style prosthesis was used because the patient has certain medical issues that do not allow them to bear weight in the shin without extreme pain. This style prosthesis will allow the patient to return to daily activities without being confined to a wheelchair. Nice work ladies!
